Case Study

“How can we create consistent leadership across mixed-experienced teams?”
What They Needed
Mirus is a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting people with learning disabilities to live independently, contribute to their communities and enjoy full citizenship rights. The organisation had managers and team leaders with varied levels of experience, backgrounds and leadership styles, which led to inconsistency in how teams were managed.
They identified the need to:
- Establish a consistent approach to people management across all levels
- Equip every manager and team leader with core leadership tools
- Replace outdated or informal management habits with professional, reliable practices
- Improve confidence in handling performance, communication and team development
- Ensure alignment to organisational values and the expectations of a care-led environment
In short: How do we create a consistent and professional management standard across a diverse group of leaders?
What We Did
We designed and delivered a two-day Essential Management Skills course, tailored to reflect both the leadership responsibilities and the values-driven purpose of the organisation.
The programme covered the key management disciplines required to create consistency in approach, including:
- Leadership for success and clarity of direction
- Time management and prioritisation
- Effective delegation and workload organisation
- Coaching and constructive feedback
- Performance management conversations
- Clear and confident communication
- Handling conflict appropriately
- Building high-performing, collaborative teams
The course focused on practical behaviour-based learning, helping managers move away from informal habits and towards consistent, professional leadership practices.

- Helpfulness and skill level of trainer: 9.5/10 – recognised for building confidence and making topics easy to apply
- Relevance to management role: 91% of participants rated the training as “very relevant” to their current responsibilities

The training successfully gave all managers a shared leadership toolkit, helping Mirus remove unstructured practices and move towards a more unified and values-aligned management culture.
