By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Identify your leadership style and understand how and when to adapt your style to better support your team
  • Manage your own time and workload, and that of your team, through forward planning and delegation
  • Communicate effectively to better connect and engage with others
  • Manage and lead remote and virtual teams during and after COVID-19
  • Motivate yourself and others in order to build high performing teams
  • Drive performance through coaching and feedback techniques
  • Identify ways to manage change and lead your team through challenging times

Workshop Outline

9.00am – 10.30am

Leading For Success

  • What is the role of a modern day manager?:
    • Day to day responsibilities
    • What is expected of you now and in the future?
  • Understanding and accepting the impacts of COVID-19 on yourself and your team:
    • Understanding and dealing with the potential effect on homeworkers – physical and emotional impacts
    • Identifying challenges facing you and your teams as remote and homeworkers
  • Understanding the difference between leadership and management, and the need for each of them
  • Understand what your current leadership style is and what this means for your team
  • Connecting and engaging with others:
    • Understanding different personality types
    • How to approach different people/personalities to get the best out of them

11.30am – 1.00pm

Leading Your Team

  • Time and task management for in the office and homeworking:
    • The difference between being “busy” and “productive”
    • Understanding urgent v import tasks when prioritising work
  • Effective delegation techniques and strategies:
    • Selecting the right person to delegate to
    • Delegating and not micro-managing
  • Managing remote and agile teams:
    • Identifying the challenges faced when managing remotely – from your perspective and your team’s perspective
    • Staying connected and maintaining trust
    • Focusing on outputs and results rather than input and activity
  • Conducting impactful meetings – both face to face and virtually

2.00pm – 3.30pm

Developing Your Team

  • Motivating and inspiring your team:
    • Motivation strategies and techniques to get the best out of people
    • Motivating through communication
  • Driving performance through coaching and feedback:
    • Understand and use a range of models to give constructive and helpful feedback
    • “In the moment” coaching and providing regular feedback
  • Dealing with performance issues there and then, as things happen:
    • Conducting difficult conversations and addressing behaviour
    • Understanding how your role in leading during periods of high-pressure and change – such as COVID-19
  • Leading by example and role modelling in periods of high-pressure and change
  • Action planning and making it happen
